COUNSELLOR IN TRAINING

Specializations: Individual Counselling Adults, Youth, particularly with histories of trauma, separation and loss.

Interests: Anxiety, Depression, Emotional Repression and Anger, Hoarding, Men and other under-represented populations in counselling. Anti-oppressive and advocacy oriented approaches to counselling, transforming experiences of marginalization.

David Binger is a Counsellor in Training with ThriveWell Counselling and is currently completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. David has a warm, grounded, and relational therapeutic style, creating an encouraging space for you to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Working from an integrative, trauma-informed, and person-centred approach, David prioritizes collaboration, safety, and support. Partnering with you to explore your experiences, build insights, and clarify goals that feel meaningful for you, David will support you as you move toward greater emotional wellbeing, resilience, and a stronger sense of agency in your life.

David is especially interested in supporting young people and adults who have grown up in challenging circumstances, such as with abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, separation or estrangement from family, and/or growing up in care. His background in research and advocacy within youth-from-care communities deepens his awareness of systemic challenges and informs his commitment to anti-oppressive and social justice-oriented practice.

David offers virtual counselling, with the potential for in-person sessions as well. Whether you work with David online or in-person, you will note how his warmth, presence, and compassionate support will help you feel understood, more grounded and safe.
