Godfrey is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who has earned his degree in Counselling Psychology through the Toronto Centre for Psychology and Counselling Education (TCPCE). Godfrey also has a postgraduate certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Durham College and an undergraduate degree in Mental Health Studies from the University of Toronto.
Godfrey has worked in inpatient addictions, a shelter, and a supportive housing facility, in Toronto, including Fred Victor Centre and House of Compassion, with folks who struggle with current and past trauma and addictions, as well as supporting clients and family members in navigating life with Schizophrenia.
Godfrey uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, and a variety of other person-centred, supportive counselling in his work with individuals. He provides support and resources that fit a variety of needs, and tailors his approach to each client’s needs and goals. Godfrey works with a diverse clientele, including adults and seniors. He has an area of growing specialty in working with men.
Godfrey provides a non-judgemental, caring and compassionate space in which to explore a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, addictions, self-esteem and self-confidence, and addressing work, family and relationship challenges. Godfrey’s journey into his own mental health along with his empathy, has shaped his strong ability to connect and build rapport with clients.
Godfrey believes in helping to shift beliefs around seeking mental healthcare, from a stigma to a strength and encourages his clients to see themselves as a part of driving change both within and outside of themselves.
